Disana Organic Knitted Nappy Bundle
The complete natural fibre nappy system. 100% organic. Zero synthetics. Breathable from skin to outer layer.
If you've been searching for a nappy system with no plastics, no microfibres, and no synthetic linings touching your baby's skin, this is it. The Disana Organic Knitted Nappy Bundle is a complete, head-to-toe natural fibre solution built around three certified organic materials: knitted cotton, brushed cotton, and merino wool. Every component in this bundle is plant or animal derived, breathable, and biodegradable at end of life.
This is the system European families have trusted for over 30 years, brought to Australian families as a single, ready-to-use bundle.
The Disana system works differently to modern cloth nappies. Instead of layered fabrics with a waterproof PUL outer, it uses the natural properties of cotton and wool together.
The knitted cotton nappy and insert absorbs. The wool cover breathes while staying leak resistant thanks to lanolin's natural water repelling properties. The silk liner sits against baby's skin and helps soothe nappy rash naturally.
The result is a nappy system that:
- Allows complete air flow to baby's skin (no trapped heat, no sweat)
- Self regulates temperature in summer and winter
- Is naturally antibacterial thanks to wool and silk
- Contains no PUL, no microfleece, no polyester, no elastane, no chemical finishes
- Is gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, including babies with eczema or recurring rash
The knitted cotton nappy stretches in every direction, contouring to baby's body for an exceptional fit from newborn through toddler. Brushed cotton inserts add absorbency where you need it. The wool cover goes on top, breathable but reliably leak resistant when properly lanolised.
It is the closest thing to nappy free that still contains a wee.
Why natural fibres?
Breathability. Cotton, wool, and silk all allow air to circulate. Studies have linked higher skin temperature inside synthetic nappies to increased rates of nappy rash and, in male infants, concerns around scrotal temperature regulation. Natural fibres keep airflow moving.
Temperature regulation. Wool is the only fibre that actively regulates temperature in both directions. It keeps babies cool in summer and warm in winter, which is why merino is the gold standard for baby sleep garments.
Antibacterial by nature. Wool contains lanolin and silk contains sericin, both of which have natural antibacterial properties. Wool covers can be aired between uses rather than washed after every wear, which means less laundry than a typical PUL cover routine.
Skin kindness. Silk is the gentlest fibre against newborn skin. It is hypoallergenic, smooth at a fibre level, and traditionally used in European nurseries to manage nappy rash and sensitive bottoms.
End of life. Every component biodegrades. When this system has lived its long life across multiple babies, it returns to the earth rather than landfill.
Fabric composition
- Knitted nappy: 100% certified organic cotton, knitted construction for four way stretch
- Brushed cotton inserts: 100% certified organic cotton, brushed surface for maximum absorbency and softness
- Silk liners: 100% pure silk, untreated, naturally antibacterial
- Wool covers: 100% organic merino wool, knitted in Germany
- Wool wash, lanolin, and stain remover: Plant and lanolin based, formulated specifically for wool care
No PUL. No microfibre. No polyester. No elastane. No bleach, no optical brighteners, no synthetic dyes.
Washing and care
Natural fibres ask for a slightly different routine, and once you know it, it becomes second nature.
Knitted nappy and brushed cotton inserts: Machine wash at 40 to 60 degrees with a cloth nappy safe detergent. Tumble dry low or line dry. Cotton softens and improves with every wash.
Silk liners: Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent. Lay flat to dry. Silk liners are reusable many times before replacing.
Wool covers: Wool does not need washing after every use. Air the cover between wears and it will self clean thanks to the natural properties of lanolin. Spot clean any soiling with the included wool stain remover. Every four to six weeks, or whenever the cover starts to feel less water resistant, hand wash gently in lukewarm water with wool wash, then lanolise with the included lanolin to restore the cover's natural water repellency.
A complete step by step lanolising guide is included in your welcome pack, and a full video tutorial is available on our website.
